L’École des sciences infirmières in the Faculty of Education and Health at Laurentian
University invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for a francophone tenure-track
faculty position at the rank of assistant or associate professor with specialization in Nursing.
The preferred start date is July 1, 2024*.

Candidates must have completed a PhD degree by the start date of the appointment, and
relevant experience can be an asset. The successful candidate will have the following essential
qualifications:
● Doctoral degree in Nursing or a related field
● Membership or eligibility to the CNO with full rights of practise
● Evidence of the ability to effectively teach in French at both undergraduate and graduate
levels in Nursing with a commitment to pedagogical and academic excellence
● Commitment to fostering a safe, inclusive, and welcoming learning environment, and
advancing Laurentian University’s bilingual and tricultural mandates
● Evidence of very good research and scholarship with the potential to work collaboratively
with colleagues, secure funding support, and build internal and external interdisciplinary
or intersectoral collaborations
● Commitment to promoting a diverse, inclusive and vibrant academic and work
environment.

In addition to active engagement and participation in teaching and research, the successful
candidate will be expected to make contributions through service to the School, Faculty,
University, and broader community. An on-campus presence is expected.

L’École des sciences infirmières has a long history and presence in northern Ontario, and has
been preparing people to enter the nursing profession for over 50 years. The four-year
Baccalauréat en sciences infirmières (BScInf) program offered in French is nationally accredited
by the Canadian Association of Schools of Nursing, and provincially approved by the College of
Nurses of Ontario. We also offer two other programs in French: the B.Sc.Inf. program for
registered nurses (offered remotely) and a program for licensed practical nurses.

In addition to this undergraduate training, students also have the opportunity to study nursing at
the graduate level. The Maîtrise en sciences infirmières (MScInf) program, offered in French,
has several streams: nurse practitioner (clinical stream), advanced nursing practice
(course-based stream), thesis (research stream) and post-nurse practitioner certificate
(course-based stream). All streams of the M.Sc.Inf. program are offered through distance
education, with the exception of on-site requirements for the Nurse Practitioner program. The
School also offers a new master’s degree in Health Administration through distance education.
This new program has been designed to meet the needs not only of nurses, but also of other
healthcare professionals who have shifted to health administration. The School is proud to
contribute to the community by building capacity for advanced nursing practice in the North and
beyond.

Laurentian University, located on Atikameksheng Anishnawbek territory in Sudbury, Ontario,
