Located in downtown Toronto, the largest and most culturally diverse city in Canada and on the territory of the Anishinaabeg, Haudenosaunee and the Wendat Peoples, the Department of Politics and Public Administration in the Faculty of Arts at Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly Ryerson University) invites applications for a tenure track position in Public Policy at the rank of Assistant Professor effective July 01, 2025, subject to final budgetary approval.

The successful candidate will demonstrate a rigorous scholarly agenda in Canadian or comparative public policy. Candidates specializing in comparative public policy should be able to critically examine Canada in comparative perspective on any policy realm or scale (local, national and/or global). We are open to all methodological approaches (qualitative, quantitative, and mixed methods).
Candidates must be able to make a meaningful and immediate contribution to teaching core policy courses in the Department’s undergraduate programs in Politics and Governance and Public Administration and Governance, and its Master’s in Public Policy and Administration (MPPA). Candidates will also be welcome to contribute to the interdisciplinary PhD in Policy Studies in the Faculty of Arts and supervise doctoral students in this program. Candidates will engage in a combination of research, teaching, and service duties, while maintaining an inclusive, equitable, and collegial work environment across all activities. Teaching duties will include supervision of students and curriculum development.
Candidates must hold a doctoral degree in Political Science or Public Policy, or a closely related field, including Public Administration, by the appointment date, provided the degree and expertise meets the core requirements or the position noted above.
The successful candidate must present evidence of:
An established or emerging research agenda that is impactful or potentially impactful, as evidenced by, but not limited to, peer-reviewed publications, working papers, public policy contributions, presentations at academic conferences, community and professional work, grants, research related awards;
demonstrated potential for teaching excellence at the undergraduate and graduate levels;
commitment to our values of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion as it pertains to service, teaching, and scholarly research or creative activities, including a demonstrated ability to make learning accessible and inclusive for a diverse student population; and
an ability and willingness to contribute to the life of the Department of Politics and Public Administration and the University through collegial service.
