Applications are invited from qualified individuals for a full-time, 3-year term position as a Lecturer with the Large Animal Internal Medicine (LAIM) service in the Department of Large Animal Clinical Sciences (https://wcvm.usask.ca/departments/large-clinical.php) at the Western College of Veterinary Medicine (WCVM).

This position entails a 75% commitment to the large animal internal medicine service of the Veterinary Medical Centre (https://vmc.usask.ca/) while providing supervision and instruction to undergraduate students – primarily those in the fourth or final year of the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) program – as wells as interns and residents. The successful candidate will also contribute to the department’s teaching responsibilities, including lectures, laboratories, and demonstrations in Years 1 to 3 of the DVM curriculum, and graduate courses. The remaining 25% of the appointment will be available for other academic pursuits, administrative responsibilities, and related activities.

Applicants must hold a DVM degree or equivalent, have completed an approved mixed residency in LAIM, and either be certified, i.e., a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine or be eligible to sit the certifying exams of the ACVIM at the time of appointment. Completion of an advanced degree in a related field is desirable. They must also be eligible to work in Canada and must possess an appropriate Saskatchewan Veterinary Medical Association license (https://svma.sk.ca/become-a-member/dvm/) by the start of the appointment. A clinical interest and experience in production (food) animals and horses is essential. Teaching experience will be considered an asset.

The LAIM Service currently includes two faculty with a third faculty member joining in the fall. The Service also includes two Residents and is in the process of recruiting a Specialty Intern. On-call and after-hours duties are shared among service members.

The WCVM (https://wcvm.usask.ca/) is Western Canada’s regional college of veterinary medicine and currently enrolls about 360 undergraduate students from three western provinces and northern jurisdictions, as well as approximately 200 graduate students. Located within the WCVM, the Veterinary Medical Centre is a state-of-the-art AVMA- and AAHA-accredited hospital and referral centre. It offers specialty services and training in anesthesia; dentistry; dermatology; exotic, wild, and zoo animal medicine; internal medicine; medical imaging; nutrition; oncology; ophthalmology; radiation oncology; surgery; and theriogenology.

Salary band for this position for the 2026-2027 academic year is $95,187 to $139,203.

Salary is negotiable based on qualifications and experience.
