Job Description:
Parsons is a leader in the design and construction of rail and transit systems, committed to delivering innovative and sustainable solutions that enhance transportation infrastructure. Our full-service team utilizes advanced 3D modeling to provide comprehensive design, construction, and technology integration for clients across North America. Parsons is seeking an experienced Track Engineer to join our Rail and Transit division as an Intermediate Track Engineer . The ideal candidate will have experience in track design for large-scale transit projects. This role would be based in the Greater Toronto Area Region.
Responsibilities:

Complete design and alignment of track infrastructure for various transit systems using AutoCAD Civil3D or MicroStation Open Rail Designer.

Prepare track design drawings and construction documentation that adheres to rail standards, contract requirements and in accordance with Parsons QAQC processes.

Prepare calculations, engineering design plans, technical reports, specifications, cost estimates, and present to internal and external stakeholders.

Participate in design coordination across disciplines and in design coordination meetings and address critical issues as it pertains to track design within an interdisciplinary team.

Mentor and develop junior track staff. Provide functional guidance and support to enhance technical and non-technical skills.

Review shop drawings and technical documentation. Implement railway systems and procedures to ensure cost-effective, high-quality, and safe project delivery.

Actively participate within the Project Team to ensure the successful delivery of high-quality rail transportation projects on time, meeting client expectations and objectives.
Qualifications:
-
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Civil Engineering typically preferred);
-
Designation as a Professional Engineer in Ontario or eligibility within the next 6-12 months;
-
5+ years experience with track design engineering for large-scale rail transit systems including Class I Railways, LRT, or Commuter Rail;

Demonstrated experience in the design of rail alignments, special trackwork, junctions, yards and facilities;
-
Experience on design-build contract delivery is an asset;

Detailed understanding of local authorities’ codes and design standards;

Capabilities in AutoCAD Civil3D Subassembly Composer, Dynamo, and Navisworks for BIM interface;

Capabilities in OpenRail Designer – Microstation;

Experience on large scale interdisciplinary projects with track design responsibilities and interface with civil, utilities and systems engineering;

Strong verbal and written communication skills, with fluency in English;

Organizational and mentoring skills.

Ability to work independently with high attention to detail and accuracy in work.
