We’re looking for a Trainee Assistant Director for an R&D of a new play; Cancer B*tch! focussing on lived experience of Cancer treatment which culminates in one performance at Burton Taylor Studio as part of OffBeat Festival.

The R&D, rehearsal process and performance will take place in Oxford between Monday 29th July – Sunday 15th of September in a part-time capacity.

This role will provide an opportunity for a creative between the ages of 18-25 wishing to get into the Theatre Industry and learn from our attached Director Lydia Mckinley.

We are particularly keen to hear from Global Majority creatives and those from underrepresented groups.

Applicants must be Oxford based.

The process will involve Focus Groups with Cancer Survivors as part of the R&D and may not be suitable to those who would find this difficult. A Wellbeing Support Person will be available throughout the process.

The fee provided will be broken down in the following way; R&D: Assistant Director x 5 days £600 per week. Rehearsals: Assistant Director x 8 days £960. Assistant Director for 1 performance £130 plus two Focus Groups of 2 hrs each at £25 ph £100 TOTAL FEE: £1790

All weekly and day rates are above ITC minimum.

Activity: Get-in, Tech, and Offbeat Performance

Date: Sunday 15 September
Venue: Burton Taylor Studio, Gloucester St, Oxford, OX1 2BN
