Trustee

Be United is currently undergoing significant organisational growth, having received Creative Scotland’s Multi-Year Funding and being part of Edinburgh’s Regenerative Fund 10-year initiative. We are looking for Trustees to contribute to Be United’s growth and contribute to its goal of supporting 500 Black people up into and in the creative and cultural sectors in the next 5 years.

As a Trustee, you will contribute to supporting Be United’s mission and use your expertise to oversee strategic growth.

The Board of Trustees sets the strategic direction, values and long- term vision of the charity. It is responsible for ensuring the charity’s legal and regulatory compliance. The Board also oversees financial management, manages risk and reputation and ensures good governance through effective policies, performance review and continuous improvement.

Practical information
Term of appointment: The term is 18 months at first instance, with option of reappointment thereafter.

Compensation: The position is voluntary, however you can be reimbursed for reasonable expenses incurred while performing your role.

Expected time commitment: Around 2-5 hours a month. This includes monthly one hour and an half online meetings and preparation. Trustees will also attend annual strategy meetings and training days, and an in-person AGM.
