UN Women Syria Programme has been focused for many years on strengthening women’s participation in the political process, as well as providing humanitarian support to women and girls in need through the Gaziantep-based cross-border operation. Since the fall of the Assad Regime, UN Women has started operating from Damascus, where its programme advances the implementation of its triple mandate (normative, operational, coordination) in cooperation with Syrian authorities, including line ministries and relevant commissions.
The Monitoring and Reporting Analyst is an integral member of the Syria Programme team and provides critical support in ensuring that programme planning, implementation, and reporting are results-based, coherent, and aligned with corporate requirements. Working closely with programme colleagues, operations teams, regional advisors, and implementing partners, the incumbent strengthens evidence generation, supports quality assurance of programme results, and ensures timely and accurate reporting to internal and external stakeholders.
Reporting to the Head of Programme, the Monitoring and Reporting Analyst contributes to the effective management of UN Women programmes in the Syria Programme by providing substantive inputs to programme design, formulation, implementation and evaluation. The Monitoring and Reporting Analyst guides and facilitates the delivery of UN Women programmes by monitoring results achieved during implementation and ensuring appropriate application of systems and procedures and develops enhancements if necessary. The Monitoring and Reporting Analyst works in close collaboration with the programme and operations team, UN Women HQ personnel, Government officials, multi and bi-lateral donors and civil society ensuring successful UN Women programme implementation under portfolio.
Scope of Work:
Contribute technically to the development of programme strategies in the area of Monitoring and Evaluation
Provide substantive technical support to the implementation and management of the Syria programme
Provide technical assistance and capacity development to project/programme partners
Provide technical inputs to the monitoring and reporting of the programme/project
Provide substantive technical inputs to the management of people and finances of the Syria programme
Provide substantive inputs to building partnerships and resource mobilization strategies
Provide technical support to inter-agency coordination to achieve coherence and alignment of UN Women programmes with other partners in the country
Provide substantive inputs to advocacy, knowledge building and communication efforts
The incumbent performs other duties within their functional profile as deemed necessary for the efficient functioning of the Office and the Organisation.
Supervisory/Managerial Responsibilities:
At present, the incumbent will not supervise any personnel; however, dependent on programme expansion, the role may assume direct supervisory and/or matrix management relationships of personnel in the future.
