With 27 subjects, one specialization and over 12,000 students enrolled in teacher education programmes the University of Vienna is the biggest teacher education institution in Austria. The Centre for Teacher Education is the organizational focal point for all questions regarding the teacher education programme at the University of Vienna. In cooperation with the other faculties and centres as well as the partner organizations of the ‘Verbund Nord-Ost’; it aims to strengthen and further develop the quality of research and teaching in the field of teacher education. 

Requirements
Specific Requirements

Your personal sphere of play:

The advertised position is located in the field of School Pedagogy with Particular Emphasis on Social, Cultural and Linguistic Diversity. As a university assistant post doc, you will complement the research team around Prof. Susanne Schwab. The contract is limited to 6 years.

Your future tasks:

Active participation in research, teaching and administration:

• Developing and strengthening the independent research profile
• Involvement in research projects / research studies
• International publications and presentations
• Responsibility for project applications and the acquisition of third-party funding
• Preparing / writing a (publication-ready) habilitation thesis
• Independent teaching of courses as defined by the collective agreement
• Supervision of students
• Participation in evaluation measures and quality assurance
• Involvement in the department administration as well as in teaching and research administration

The successful candidate is expected to have (MUST):

• Doctoral degree/PhD degree in the field of Educational Sciences or similar
• Professional competence in the fields of school pedagogy and diversity/inclusion
• Subject-relevant publications in renowned journals (peer-reviewed, depending on the professional standards)
• International presentation experience
• Experience in leading projects (national as well as international) 
• Very high methodological competence in the fields of empirical educational research and statistics (e.g. quantitative and qualitative research methods as well as experience with systematic reviews)
• Teaching experience / experience of working with e-learning
• Didactic competence in unversity teaching
• Experience of supervising students
• Excellent command of written and spoken German and English
• IT user skills
• Knowledge of university processes and structures
• Ability to work in a team

Ideally you also have (Nice-to-have):

• Experience in applying for funding
• Experience abroad
