GSK has a growing hepatology pipeline and is in the process of preparing for initial product launches in distinct liver diseases. The US Senior Medical Director has strong clinical and scientific knowledge across liver diseases and can effectively provide sound & relevant medical advice to internal stakeholders, apply their expertise to inform medicine strategy, develop and execute asset-related tactics, support external scientific engagement, lead advice seeking activities, and has deep understanding of the clinical data and evidence generated to support appropriate use in patients and can identify evidence gaps and inform future data generation needs.
This role will provide YOU the opportunity to lead key activities to progress YOUR career, these responsibilities include some of the following:
- Supports the US Medical Affairs Lead with the development and execution of the US Medical Plan for the Hepatology portfolio.
- Understands and provides guidance on the evolving US healthcare environment (provider/expert) and payer landscape and translates that knowledge into the medical strategy, objectives, and all activities.
- In partnership with the US Medical Affairs Lead, provides input to shape clinical and health outcomes data generation plans to support anticipated US healthcare landscape and patient needs.
- Leads planning and execution of medical tactics in collaboration with the cross-functional Medical Matrix Team.
- Partners cross-functionally to provide medical input/insights to various internal meetings including Therapeutic Area Leadership, Medical Matrix Team Meetings, Medical/Commercial/Market Access Strategy Meetings and Internal medical training
- Prioritizes investment in medical activities to deliver the greatest impact on patient care measured via GSK’s Medical Impact Framework.
- Leads advice seeking activities and other external engagements to advance scientific and medical understanding of the appropriate development and use of medicines, the management of the disease, and patient care.
- Partners with Medical Communications & Scientific Training and Medical Information stakeholders to ensure communication goals and medical materials created align with the US medicine strategy and business needs.
- Applies sound medical governance for all activities.

- MD Gastroenterology with relevant hepatology expertise
- Clinical practice experience
Preferred Qualifications:
If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:
- Experience working in the pharma industry
- Experience working as a clinical investigator
- Experience working across various liver diseases Understanding of promotional codes/regulations; previous involvement in review and approval processes.
