Overview of position

Under the direct supervision of the Head of PDSU OIC and in close coordination with the Programme Support and Public Information Associate, the candidate will lead the overall media engagement, visibility and public information response in relation to IOM activities in the East of Libya, with particular focus to the Storm Daniel Emergency and Recovery Response.

Role objectives

Responsibilities and Accountabilities;

  1. Produce content for international audiences in the form of
    assisting to develop press notes and creating visual human-interest
    stories from the field with particular focus on Storm Daniel emergency
    response.
  1. Visit the field  in the East to
    collect photographs, video clips, beneficiaries’ stories and program
    descriptions that highlight IOM Libya’s presence and overall strategy for
    the Mission’s publications and communication channels;
  1. On a weekly basis capture and edit photos and videos about IOM
    activities, and produce at least one finalized story to be posted on the
    Mission’s social media platforms each week;
  1. On a monthly basis collect, edit, and produce a video story about
    IOM activities related to specific project or donor specific requirement;
  1. Provide general advice on content sharing and ways to engage public
    and followers with the organization’s different platforms for a growing
    audience;
  1. Supports digital campaigns in the East in support of IOM’s
    interventions and beneficiaries – in collaboration with other
    communication offices, if needed;
  1. Monitor social media channels, and flag any issues of concern to
    the PI team, including negative mentions and misreporting, and propose
    ways to respond appropriately;
  1. Be responsible for building a pool of photos and videos of IOM
    activities on a timely basis; make sure that IOM Libya at all times has
    access to latest high-quality photos about the field activities;
  1. Contribute to the inclusion of appropriate gender awareness in IOM
    Libya PI material;
  1. Support PI training for field staff in the East and the South on
    photography, story collection and videography, and build internal PI
    capacity;
  1. Work closely with IOM Libya operational colleagues to cover IOM
    activities with text and audio-visual material, including for visiting
    detention centres and other relevant locations;
  1. Review the media materials produced by the PI team for
    finalization.
  1. Identify relevant media/communications opportunities to promote IOM
    Libya’s work in Libya, with particular focus on the East and the Storm
    Daniel Response;
  1. Ensure consistent visibility of IOM Libya’s activities in the field
    and produced material;
  1. Ensure donor visibility in line with donor guidelines;
  1. Perform such other duties as may be assigned
