Position Summary:

The Vice President, Enterprise Business Development leads strategic development efforts that best address business and Pharma partners need while coordinating the involvement of all necessary teams. The Vice President, Enterprise Business Development will be responsible for building out a B2B customer base, leading the Alliance Management team and working collaboratively and in conjunction with all levels of the sales organization to ensure successful attainment of established goals and objectives.


  • Uncover and drive strategic business-to-business expansion & collaboration opportunities with business partners in the designated territory, with or without a Pharma partner. 
  • Meets and strives to exceed annual Bookings and Revenue targets tied to business opportunities and projects.
  • Build strategic relationships with key customer stakeholders (Business Development, Strategic Leads, Procurement, Contracting, Strategic Pharma Alliance Managers, CRO Business Strategy Leads, etc.)
  • Structure detailed strategic plans for gaining and retaining new and existing business and IVD clients to gain market share.
  • Collaborate and coordinate with all sales positions within Pharma Services (VPs, BDs, Inside Sales, Alliance Management, Project Management team, SDRs) and NeoGenomics Operations , Commercial Enablement, and Quality, to ensure successful completion of projects in support of company goals and objectives.
  • Identify and develop partnering opportunities between prospective business partners and NeoGenomics’ Pharma Services .
  • Continually analyze competitive landscape and environment within business partners to determine trends and provide customer feedback to NeoGenomics leadership team.
  • Closely coordinates company Executive involvement with customer management.
  • Monitor performance of Business-to-Business sales to ensure objectives are met
  • Negotiate and see to execution by the Company vendor-to-vendor contracts.
  • Identify trends with Pharma Partners from an Alliance Management perspective and guide Alliance Management team on escalations.
  • Manage and lead a team of two (2) Alliance Managers.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive business plan for the business-to-business relations that will be inclusive attainment of quota and strategic contracting.
  • Generate and support promotion activities in coordination with the Enterprise-wide marketing division, including by not limited to speaking engagements, trade show support, and other opportunities.
  • Create statements of work for business partner projects based upon customer requirements. Work effectively with individuals across multiple departments throughout NeoGenomics to scope out work needed and build a budget for business partner projects.
  • Provides leadership and input to the commercial Pharma team as requested in addition to day-to-day support.

  • All other duties as assigned by the Vice President, Commercial, Pharma Services

Experience and Required Qualifications:

  • Education: PhD in life sciences & MBA required
  • 10+ years of Business development experience working with pharmaceutical companies, academic research centers, and business partners, with a history of proven performance that has met and exceeded expectations.
  • Strong understanding of pharmaceutical services and connection to business partners and the evolving competitive landscape
  • Ability to maintain an outstanding level of market, customer, distribution and product knowledge necessary to accomplish sales objectives.
  • Excellent knowledge of pharma clinical trials and laboratory IVD manufacturers
  • Excellent negotiation and customer service skills
  • Outstanding strategic sales account planning skills
  • Superior listening and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to handle sensitive information and maintain a very high level of confidentiality
  • Demonstrate consistent closing abilities throughout the sales cycle
  • Possess a very positive attitude and an understanding of the dynamics involved with organizational growth and change
  • Impeccable oral and verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Must be very proficient with all Microsoft Office products – particularly Excel and PowerPoint
  • Effective and regular utilization of
  • Ability to develop and utilize cross-functional relationships to facilitate the accomplishment of work goals and objectives.
  • Advanced presentation skills and business acumen required
  • Ability to work effectively with minimal direction from, or interface with, manager

  • Strong administrative skills and sophistication to manage business in complex environments
  • Demonstrated measurable revenue generation at either a diagnostic or relevant biotechnology company.

Travel Required: Frequent. Greater than 50% of time throughout the assigned territory.
