His Majesty’s Revenue & Customs (HMRC) is the UK’s tax and customs authority and is responsible for collecting tax revenue on behalf of the UK government, making sure that money is available to fund the UK’s public services. HMRC’s Fiscal Crime Liaison Officer (FCLO) Network is responsible for facilitating international co-operation with overseas law enforcement in support of these priorities. The FCLOs in Paris are responsible for a region that includes France, Monaco and Morocco and the FCLO Assistant would be expected to cover the same remit.
The main purpose of the FCLO Assistant role is to support the FCLOs in delivering HMRC’s priorities and in maintaining and strengthening HMRC’s relationship with customs and law enforcement agencies in France, Monaco and Morocco. This involves providing essential administrative, operational and logistical support to the HMRC FCLOs in Paris. This may include translating documents, writing reports, recording and compiling performance metrics and reports, engaging with senior UK and overseas officials and building relationships with external contacts. All working as part of the dynamic FCLO Paris team to help reduce threats to UK tax regimes from organised crime, tax evasion and money laundering.
The FCLO Paris office is a fast-paced workspace working across a number of varied projects in any given day. The FCLO Assistant will need to be able to prioritise tasks by themselves on a daily basis and will need to balance delivery of different activities to a range of different timelines.
The role is based in Paris but may involve travel throughout France and sometimes abroad.
Roles and responsibilities:
The role will involve (but is not restricted to) the following core responsibilities:
Fluency in written and spoken English and French (minimum level required C1 under the CEFR or equivalent);
Excellent skills in organising self and others, including taking decisions about the prioritisation of work;
Ability to process and understand large amounts of data and information; turning this into concise and accurate reports;
A constructive, positive and service orientated attitude;
A flexible approach to work and travel. This may occasionally include travel at short notice, working evenings, working away from home or even (in exceptional cases) working weekends or public holidays;
Excellent IT skills – advanced skills in Microsoft Office;
Delivering at Pace, Making Effective Decisions, Managing a Quality Service, Working Together

This is a full time, permanent contract. The position is based on a 35/H week, this role does not currently support working from home.

Working Pattern: The position is based on a 35- hour working week. However, due to the nature of the work there is the requirement to work some irregular hours, particularly starting early and finishing late, during the working week. There may also be requirements to work on weekends. The successful candidate will be entitled to overtime payments for working additional hours/ overtime payment as and when required.
