Main purpose of job:
Reporting to the Finance Manager, the MOD Human Resources Officer is responsible for the administration of British Military personnel programme embedded in the Australian Department of Defence or Australian Defence Force. Which has approximately 80 serving military and defence civilian personnel at any one time. This exchange promotes defence interoperability between the UK and Australia.
Roles and responsibilities / what will the jobholder be expected to achieve?:
- Maintain and issue arrival and departure briefs to all exchange personnel assigned to Australia. The successful candidate will work closely with the Global Admin Unit (GAU) in the UK to ensure that briefs are policy compliant, adapted to the local circumstances and clear.
- Administration of the Overseas Furniture Package Scheme (OFPS)/Inventories. This duty includes understanding entitlements and processing the claims prior to presenting to the Finance Manager for payment.
- Control and update of the Exchange Personnel Contact List and the Arrival/Departure List. These lists are to be maintained and accessible to the Military Advisors, Office Manager and Finance Manager.Remain up to date with current policies and advise Exchange Personnel on any changes. Th
- ideal candidate will be able to tailor how they articulate the regulations to all personnel regardless of rank or status. Be prepared to dissect and elaborate on key changes.
- Processing of all exchange personnel claims and issue payment notification in accordance with current policy.
- Entering personnel details into the Immigration System working with the Australian Border Force.
- Filing and retrieval of correspondence relating to exchange personnel issues when required for the Military Advisors, Office Manager or Finance Manager.
- Collection and distribution of official mail to exchange personnel.
- Attend and contribute to Defence Section meetings updating the Defence Section on key points and issues with respect to the exchange personnel community.
- Support the Office Manager in organising the Annual Exchange Conference.
- Deputise for the Office Manager and Finance Manager as required but within clearly defined and reasonable areas of responsibility.
- Aid exchange personnel with obtaining a rental property, this will include the setting up of rental agreements through the Finance Manager.
- Other tasks as directed by the Finance Manager and Office Manager.

Salary is at AU$ 81,583.00 per annum (paid out monthly), plus 11.5% superannuation.
Appointment is subject to an AFP records check and UK security clearance.
Open to Australian citizens, or UK, US, Canada, New Zealand citizen with rights to work and reside in Australia.

- In addition to the duties with this job normally entails, you may from time to time be required to undertake additional or other duties as necessary to meet the needs of the High Commission, including playing a part in the corporate life of the mission and supporting any crisis response.

Working patterns:
The British High Commission supports and promotes flexible working times but due to working with teams in the UK, there may be occasions for some calls to be outside of core hours. Although flexibility arrangements and remote working can be catered for subject to line management agreement, due to the nature of the work main duties are office based.
Normal working hours for full time employment are 38 hours p/w Monday to Friday
The overall package also includes the standard 14 days of public holidays that the UK in Australia Network all works to as well as 22 days annual leave.
The FCDO also operates an agile workforce. To facilitate this, you may be required to undertake other duties from time to time as we may reasonably require.
