Main purpose of job:
The British High Commission is seeking to recruit a motivated, knowledgeable, and adaptable individual with strong reporting, administrative, and research skills for the role of Economic Intern.
This is a fantastic and varied internship working in one of the key Diplomatic missions in Kingston. The main purpose of the role is to support UK government understanding of economic issues in Jamaica (and wider region) by delivering economic reporting and analysis. The ideal candidate will be an energetic team player with an educational background in economics and a keen interest in contributing to the development of Jamaica’s economy via monitoring of key indicators. You will collaborate with a team of talented experts to inform stakeholders of developments within the field and help strengthen the relationship between the UK, Jamaica, and its wider Carribean counterparts.
The role of Economic Intern is ideal for those recently graduated from university studies in economics with at least a basic comprehension of international relations. It is vital for candidates to have an existing understanding of Jamaica’s social, economic, and political landscape. Additionally, previous experience working in an international environment, as well as knowledge of the UK’s relationship with Jamaica, is especially beneficial to the role.
