Main purpose of job: The British Embassy Quito’s Economic and Environment Section is recruiting an intern to contribute to the UK’s goals supporting Ecuador’s environmental ambitions. The team supports policy design and implements programmes aligned to the UK´s priorities around economic growth and the environment. The intern will support in the delivery of several UK Government programmes in Ecuador focused on biodiversity conservation, climate change, oceans protection, forests, and green finance, as well as helping with economic reporting. Through this opportunity, the Embassy will provide valuable work experience for an Ecuadorean undergraduate student. This role will be of particular benefit to those students focused on the environment, ecology, biology, international relations, sustainable development, economics and finance, and other related fields. |

Must have the legal status to live and work in Ecuador.
Employees who are not liable to pay local income tax on their Mission salary, e.g. some non-local national staff and some spouses or partners of UK diplomatic staff, will have their salaries abated by an equivalent amount.

Candidates must have the availability to work 30 hours per week, to fit in with the applicant’s study pattern and flexibility to work within the Embassy’s opening hours:
Monday – Thursday: 08.00 – 16.30
Friday: 08.00 – 13.00
This is a 6-month Civil Contract. Appointment will be subject to confirmation of a background check and security clearance.
Appointable candidates who were unsuccessful may be placed on a ‘reserve list’. If during the reserve period of 6 months the same or a largely similar role becomes available, that role may be offered to the second or subsequent candidate.

You must have the legal status to live and work in Ecuador in your own right. Additionally, you must be eligible under the relevant Ecuadorean legal requirements, namely, that you must be an undergraduate student of a Higher Education institution who is currently enrolled in classes at time of signing of contract.
