Main purpose of job:

We reserve the right to review, revise or amend the roles and responsibilities from time to time reflecting the changing needs of business.

To carry out effective day to day maintenance work, routine maintenance, preventive maintenance, breakdown maintenance, new installation and construction for generator and related systems.

Roles and responsibilities / what will the jobholder be expected to achieve

Regular works (60%)

  • Regular Inspection of generators (from 22 KVA to 500KVA) for any defects and reporting to TWS about the same.
  • Lead team to do maintenance service request tasks on regular basis to continue the mission’s operations.
  • Follow FCDO health & safety standard in regular works.
  • Lead to complete the planned preventive maintenance (PPM) works for generators and meet the deadline as per PPM calendar.
  • Lead on ad hoc tasks delegated by Technical Works Supervisor (TWS) and provide updates of the progress on the same.
  • Undertake related documentation of PCA, GPSS, etc as per FCDO requirements and guidelines.
  • Reporting the Supervisor after completion of assigned works.
  • To carry out full operation and maintenance of Emergency Diesel- Engine generator set and fuel tank with genset.
  • To carry out no load test daily and load testing of Engine Generator Test according to Preventive Maintenance Schedule.
  • Work with the mechanical and electrical technicians in the preventive and corrective maintenance of all units of Diesel Engine Generator Sets and fuel tanks.
  • To support new installation of the Solar Panel, Solar Collector, Water heaters and motors
  • Keep record of spare parts for operation throughout the year and ad hoc project assigned.
  • To carry out repair/Servicing and maintenance of any type of batteries used on generators.
  • Assisting Electricians and Plumbers to carry out their tasks.

Schedule/Preventive maintenance works (30%)

  • To conduct daily inspection and housekeeping of all Diesel Engine Generator Sets and Fuel tanks to check battery charge status and hydrometer battery water testing, radiator water, engine lubrication oil level and lead acid testing of lubrication oil, water jacket heater operation, fuel lines and to keep accurate logs and records of all operating parameters including fuel in tanks.
  • To keep accurate record of all activities and load testing of the Generator Sets.
  • To carry out the routine/breakdown maintenance, check-up, inspection of all generators and fuel tanks, its parts and fuel pipelines system on residential and official accommodations.
  • To follow the FCDO Health and Safety Policy.
  • Preparing the report of the work and help other colleagues for the same.

Miscellaneous Works (10%)

  • Operate generator in case of requests for events or other programs as per need.
  • Carry out on-call responsibilities on a emergency basis.
  • Keep & clean tools and machines in proper position after using it.
  • Develop your skills in all trades to meet mission’s multi-tasking policies.
  • Develop good understanding and ability to follow all related H&S standards, which include but not limited to electrical safety, fire safety, height safety and confine space safety etc.

Language requirements:

Language: English, Urdu

Level of language required: English Basic (Able to read and Understand English), Urdu Fluent

Essential on arrival:

  • At least three years practical experience on Diesel Engine Generator Maintenance, operation and Servicing (Preferable on CAT or Perkins Engine).
  • DAE or equivalent course in Electrical or Mechanical or equivalent.

Desirable:   

  • Good Communications Skills and well-known English reading skills
  • Health and Safety Occupational Training
  • Manufacturer specific Servicing and Maintenance course.

For other than BHC candidates the basic salary will be PKR 92,809 This salary is non-negotiable.

Please note that the current salaries are being dollarized and processed in USD (using a fixed corporate exchange rate from November 2022) to provide cushion against the current external market conditions. This is a temporary measure and is subject to review at regular intervals. The payroll will revert to local currency processing once the external market conditions are normalised.

BHC offers a great benefits package that comprises of Annual Domiciliary cover and Medical Insurance Scheme which includes PKR 1,500,000 floater coverage per family for self, one spouse/long term partner and children under the age of 19 or under 23, if in full-time education and not gainfully employed. The Annual Domiciliary cover for day-to-day medical payments is upto PKR 200,000 per family (basis actual bills submission).

 Additionally, The British High Commission contributes to a retirement provision in the form of a mandatory provident fund.
