The British Embassy in Dublin is part of a world-wide network, representing UK political, economic and consular interests overseas, and is now recruiting for an Investment Development Executive who will be based in the Invest Northern Ireland (Invest NI, www.investni.com) office in Dublin.

 

Invest NI is part of Northern Ireland’s Department for the Economy and the principal business development agency for the region. Invest NI’s international offices are responsible for supporting Northern Ireland companies in developing business overseas thus increasing export sales, developing collaborations and marketing Northern Ireland as an inward investment location.

 

Invest NI Dublin is part of the GB & Europe team. The post-holder will support the delivery of Invest Northern Ireland’s market strategy, promote Northern Ireland’s foreign direct investment (FDI) propositions, and attract businesses to visit Northern Ireland, with the ultimate goal to secure inward investment wins for Northern Ireland.

 

The post-holder will be assigned specific business sectors in which they will be responsible for delivering. They will arrange business meetings, prepare meeting schedule, undertake marketing research, assist with the identification of business opportunities for Northern Ireland, formulate marketing material in co-ordination with other internal teams. Some of the key performance measurements include business contacts established, meetings secured / arranged and FDI leads generated. 

 

The post-holder will work under the direction of Invest NI’s Regional Director for Ireland, they will also work with the Business Development Director for Ireland and the wider Invest NI team on promotional initiatives including social medial campaigns. The post-holder will support the delivery of business events, attend conferences/expo and work in partnerships with other stakeholders such the UK Department of Business and Trade (DBT, Dublin), and other business organisations to gather market intelligence and insights.

 

The post-holder will record and maintain data on the Invest NI CRM system, prepare monthly returns and activity reports, and submit them on a timely basis.

 

The post-holder is expected to undertake travel occasionally, primarily within the island of Ireland and to the UK.

 

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the delivery of an in-market strategy to promote Northern Ireland’s capability with the ultimate aim of attracting FDIs to Northern Ireland. The post-holder will be assigned specific business sectors in which he/she will be responsible for delivering. Some of the key performance measurements include business contacts established, meetings secured / arranged and FDI leads generated.
  • Undertake local market research, promote Northern Ireland and identify relevant business opportunities through intense media monitoring,  market intelligence, connections and research; arrange FDI meetings for the Director Ireland and Business Development Director for Ireland and help to secure investment wins for Northern Ireland as part of the Invest NI Dublin Office team;
  • Manage relevant information sources and maintain accurate recording of customer and stakeholder information on Invest NI CRM and management systems. Prepare reports (including activity / performance / market reports) accurately and timely for manager;
  • Work effectively and in partnership with wider teams based in Northern Ireland and other locations.
  • Co-ordinate events activities in market including liaising with event partners, Invest NI Internal Communication teams and client companies;
  • Work closely with Invest NI marketing and communications team (in-market and head office) to deliver effective communication in the marketplace on what NI can offer businesses, support provided, case studies of companies in NI, Life in NI, event communications, email marketing activities, social media campaigns, media coverage and public relations;
  • Raise Invest NI’s profile, develop and maintain effective working relationships within the British Embassy, UK Department for Business and Trade (DBT), Northern Ireland government representatives, a wide range of stakeholders and businesses.

  • Fluency in both oral and written English (minimum of C1 level for CEFR framework*);
  • Educated to University degree level ideally in a business or related discipline;
  • Over 3 years’ working experience in a private or public sector organisation;
  • Experience in undertaking market research, analysing market data, preparing reports, presenting information to team / clients and helping them to achieve positive commercial outcomes;
  • Attention to detail, excellent organisational, CRM & IT systems and administrative skills;
  • A sound commercial knowledge and business sector knowledge of Ireland and Northern Ireland, and their key business drivers;
  • Good networking skills, experience in building and maintaining effective working relationships across all levels of businesses;
  • Ability to work at pace and independently as part of a remote team;
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office (Word/Excel/PowerPoint).

The successful candidate will be subject to a six-month probationary period and will be employed on a fixed-term contract basis for 24 months with the possibility of renewal. The appointment is subject to satisfactory reference and security checks.

 

All L&D required on FCDO/UK government standards and systems will be provided.
