Main purpose of job:
We are looking for a dynamic, high-calibre colleague to be based in Delhi who will focus on the UK-India FDI relationship in North India region. Indian companies currently invest more in the UK than the rest of Western Europe combined. We need a colleague who will help the team to retain this top slot and play his/her part in the development of our strategy in the North India region.
Your role will support the Inward Investment initiatives:
- Promote the UK as the preferred inward investment destination for Indian companies in North India region
- Support team to account manage some of the SRM (Strategic Relationship Management) Accounts
- Encourage and deliver high value investments across DBT’s priority sectors including Technology, Healthcare, Automotive, Advanced Engineering etc. through tie ups, as well as research and development and joint venture partnerships
- Coordinate with DBT Management Team and HQ on important bilateral trade activities, sector specialist visits and ministerial visits
- Identify and build relationships with Trade bodies such as FIEO, SIAM, FICCI, CII etc. Participate and conduct events jointly with them to promote Inward Investment into the UK
- Participate in Weekly Review Meetings to discuss Pipeline and update on SRM Accounts
- Learn to work on the Data Base Management Tool (Data Hub) and update all Investor interactions on regular basis while supporting the wider North India team on the same
- Will be required to travel within the North India Region across cities to support team build a High Value Pipeline and support team in conducting outreaches and roundtables
- You will be part of the team representing British Government for Inward Investment in the North Region of India, maintaining relationships with Indian Industrialists while encouraging them to be the ambassadors for FDI into the UK
- You will deliver and help team to deliver a strong pipeline of current and future investment wins and support the wider DBT India team effort across a range of corporate objectives. You will be supported with opportunities to get the right learning and development, career development and opportunities to travel.
Roles and responsibilities / what will the jobholder be expected to achieve?:
Investment Success (50%): To promote the UK as the ideal investment destination for potential and existing Indian investors and to work with them to set up and expand operations in the UK. Deliver and support team on Regional FDI Target comprising of High Value FDI Wins, Job numbers, R&D and Net Zero ambitions. Support in ensuring that annual investment targets for the North India region are met, a healthy pipeline of future investment projects is developed and projects database is managed accurately.
Events and Visits (25%): Support the regional and PAN India events to develop new pipeline and manage SRM relationships. Support all visits from UK including Ministers, Senior Diplomats, Delegations, Sector Specialists etc. Support team to plan logistics and plan industry interactions during the visits and in preparing briefing documents.
Stakeholder Management (15%): To build strong links to, and work in partnership with trade bodies in India along with regional promotional agencies and multipliers in the UK (London and Partners, Local Enterprise Partnerships etc.) to ensure potential investors are provided with a seamless end-to-end service which consistently leads to investment successes in the UK.
Strategic Relationship Management (10%): Develop and support team to maintain relationship with existing and new pipeline of high value investors/prospects and support the team to develop a coordinated strategic engagement plan for North India with an objective to deliver high GVA project wins.
Resources managed (staff and expenditure): To be accountable and responsible for personal and team finances through the year.

Yes, the Network allows you to work from home for one day per week. So, one day within a five-day working week can be spent at home (if desired and subject to business requirements), while the other four must be spent in the office, travelling with work, or in meetings outside the office.
Travel will be required – primarily across India, to metros and occasionally tier 2 cities, and occasionally to the UK.
Must hold a valid Indian Passport.

Qualifications:
Graduate/post graduate
Experience:
- Should have at least 3-4 years of total and 2 years of relevant professional experience of working in Trade & Investment, Business Development and FDI attraction/ program delivery in either public/ private sector/ embassies
- Knowledge of the role of governments and private sector in attracting Foreign Direct Investment (FDI)
- Knowledge of factors that influence trade, investments, expansion decisions, and value proposition for investors.
- Relationship management – ability to read situations and modify behaviour to build quality, diverse relationships. Background will include experience of managing senior level contacts in across the Industry
- Strong interpersonal and administrative skills
- Tried and tested project management skills
- Strong skills in using Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint etc.)

For British High Commission candidates, the Country Based Staff BHC Terms & Conditions will apply.
For other than BHC Candidates, salary will be all-inclusive of INR 75,359 per month plus 12% Provident Fund and 6% Superannuation Fund.
Additionally, the BHC offers a great benefits package that includes annual domiciliary medical cover, plus a Group Hospitalisation Scheme with INR 500,000 floater cover for your immediate family which includes self, spouse/partner and children up to an age of 23years and irrespective of age, only if with, physical or mental disability.
No relocation or any other related costs or assistance will be provided.
Please note – BHC does not deduct tax at source and employees are required to ensure that any requirements of local income-tax law are complied with in full. Employees who are not liable to pay local income tax on their Mission salary, e.g., some non-local national staff and some spouses or partners of UK diplomatic staff, will have their salaries abated by an equivalent amount.
Please note – Provident Fund Transfer in and out from EPFO is not possible as BHC PF is managed by a private PF trust governed by Indian Income Tax Act, 1961. The staff still has the option to transfer out and in from a privately held PF trust which are not governed by EPFO.
