Main Purpose of Job:
You will join a dynamic and friendly Media and Communications team promoting the UK government’s objectives and activities in Indonesia and Timor-Leste. You will lead on Education (including Higher Education, the Chevening scholarship programme, and Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET)) and on Health, Women and Girls. You will also support the wider Media and Communications team on other policy areas, including helping to deliver a range of exciting media and public diplomacy events.
This job requires creativity, teamwork and collaboration to deliver impactful comms to a wide range of internal and external stakeholders. You will need to build relationships with internal stakeholders such as British Council and Department for Business and Trade (DBT), and external stakeholders including the Ministry of Education, Education agents, scholarship providers, Ministry of Health, the media, opinion formers and many more. You will need to be strategic and have great ideas to develop effective comms campaigns. You will need to produce and disseminate press products and social media content that will appeal to our target audiences and deliver key messages. You will be able to manage projects independently and be self-starting.

Working Patterns:
Normal working hours are 39.5 (gross) per week: 07:30hrs to 16:00hrs from Monday to Thursday and 07:30hrs to 13:00hrs. The team operates a ‘core hours’ policy of 09:00hrs to 15:00hrs with individual flexibility around that and we are open to requests to work condensed hours, subject to business need.
There may be some regional or international travel for visits or roadshows, or to attend training and conferences.

In relation to this, the successful candidate will need to arrange for his/her own Police Certificate.
Employees who are not liable to pay local income tax on their Mission salary may have their salaries reduced by the equivalent local income tax amount.
The FCDO also operates an agile workforce. To facilitate this, you may be required to undertake other duties from time to time as we may reasonably require.

The jobholder will be able to access a range of Learning and Development opportunities, and occasional travel.
Most learning is on the job, however, there is a range of online and face-to-face training available. There are also opportunities for work shadowing across the organisation. The selected candidate will develop their own learning plan with their line manager.
