Main Purpose of Job:
This is an exciting opportunity to drive growth in business and government partnerships across the sustainable infrastructure space, as part of the UK’s Department for Business & Trade (DBT). This is an exciting time in infrastructure in Indonesia, with the development of major national projects to drive progress on sustainable infrastructure development across the whole country. The DBT team is leading some truly innovative campaigns across transport, notably in the rail sector, as well as working closely to support ambitions for Indonesia’s New Capital City Nusantara (IKN) and driving cooperation on critical minerals to secure resilient supply chains that can support our future energy transition ambitions.
This role of Sustainable Infrastructure Manager – Trade in DBT Indonesia’s Infrastructure Team will drive trade promotion engagement on infrastructure, supporting UK companies and organisations to win business in the infrastructure sector in Indonesia, unlocking new opportunities for export and investment, and addressing and resolving market access barriers. You will be a motivated self-starter who can demonstrate a proactive approach to identifying trends and opportunities and developing plans to capitalise on these.
You will work to the Head of Infrastructure and will support delivering strategic long-term campaigns across various sub-sectors, supporting the development of a pipeline of commercial opportunities. You will support the delivery of events, missions, and inward/outward visits, taking a leading role in some instances. You will take ownership of several sub-sectors of sustainable infrastructure development, including critical minerals, and will oversee our work in these areas.
You will champion our work on sustainable infrastructure development in Indonesia’s New Capital City, identifying opportunities for UK companies to partner on this innovative project. You will support the implementation of existing and future MoUs around sustainable infrastructure development in the New Capital City, running events and activities to realise ambitions set out in these agreements.
You will support our work on critical minerals and sustainable mining, a relatively new area of work for DBT in Indonesia, where you will identify sustainable mining opportunities for UK business and develop a plan to increase our engagement in this area. You will also support ambitions around two-way investment cooperation in critical minerals under the UK-Indonesia Investment Cooperation MoU, reporting to the Deputy Country Director on this key workstream.
More broadly, you will support positioning the UK as a partner of choice for sustainable infrastructure development across different parts of Indonesia, and you will advise UK companies on routes to market based on your experience of the most effective ways of partnering and doing business here.
You will support DBT-led ODA and non-ODA programme work in the sustainable infrastructure space, including working with delivery partners, local stakeholders, UK teams, and UK business, to ensure smooth delivery and follow-up actions.
You will develop and manage relationships with stakeholders across the Indonesian government and private sector, and you will be confident engaging them on a regular basis. You will also be responsible for establishing and maintaining relations with UK and Indonesian companies, supporting them with partnership opportunities. You will work collaboratively with teams across the Embassy engaged on infrastructure including teams in London (i.e. the UK Department for Transport, the DBT infrastructure sector team, and FCDO programme teams).
You will also support wider UK Government objectives including UK Export Finance, supporting and identifying trade policy issues and related issues that can be addressed in the government-to-government Joint Economic & Trade Committee (JETCO) trade dialogue.
We reserve the right to review, revise or amend the roles and responsibilities from time to time reflecting the changing needs of business.
