Main purpose of job: FCDO Ghana is looking for a passionate and experienced Programme Partnership and Engagement Manager to support delivery of the five-year, £4.95m, Ghana Governance Programme (GGP) programme within Political and Governance Team. The programme seeks to strengthen Ghana’s systems for transparency, accountability and the protection of civil and political rights. The programme is delivered primarily through a number of accountable grants and bilateral agreements between the FCDO Accra and implementing partners. Alongside this, the programme and its implementation partners must engage with a variety of stakeholders within the Government of Ghana and other sectors. This position will play a critical role in ensuring these stakeholders are well engaged, coordinated and monitored effectively- in support of the programme management team. Key results targeted under the programme include increased citizens engagement that strengthens electoral processes and transparency and accountability, increased capacity and responsiveness of state institution that promote transparency and accountability. The post-holder will maintain day-to-day engagement with stakeholders including partners in Government, Parliament, Multilateral Organisations, NGOs, thinktanks, consultants and other UK Departments engaged on GGP. The role will enable the programme to deliver collaboration and coordination between and among delivery partners, ensuring interventions are aligned and working together as part of whole. This will require a robust understanding of the programme objectives, implementing partner obligations, and progress milestones: including identification of programme risks, challenges or opportunities. The post-holder will deliver important insights into stakeholder priorities and needs, as well as contextual analysis that will enable the smooth delivery of a complex programme in a fascinating post-election context. The successful applicant will demonstrate proven experience of performing similar functions for a multi-component programme with diverse implementing partners.

- Strong knowledge and experience in delivering development programmes, particularly governance programmes.
- Demonstrable track record of and ability to apply technical knowledge to deliver development programme outcomes through policy engagement, coordination and collaborations with other stakeholders including CSOs, Development Partners and government agencies etc.
- Experience managing and growing partnerships within an international development context.
- Experience and skills in managing a portfolio of programmes/work streams and partners;
- Strong communication and negotiation skills and the ability to build relationships with key stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to make data-driven decisions.
- Ability to organise and prioritise own work and deal with several matters simultaneously avoiding backlogs of work.
- Ability to take responsibility for quality of work, and to identify and resolve issues.
- Excellent command of written and spoken English. Able to create clear and accurate first drafts of project documentation, correspondence, and notes of meetings.
- Ability to listen well and communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- The ability to build and maintain strong and beneficial relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- The ability to engage effectively across cultures, maintaining respect and integrity.
- The ability to bring together policy and programme levers to deliver a high impact in a challenging area.
- Computer literate and familiar with basic features.
