The British Embassy in Lima is looking to recruit a capable, motivated, and experienced individual to join the Amazon Security Programme (ESP), a regional programme focused on tackling environmental crime in the Amazon Basin. The role will be part of a regional team working across the Latin America region and assist in the project management, financial management and policy development in the environmental/organised crime/security fields, as well as monitoring and evaluation across the America’s Portfolio.
The Amazon Security Programme will seek to tackle the drivers of environmental crime, corruption and illicit finance threats impacting Latin America, particularly in Brazil, Peru, Colombia, and Ecuador.
The ISF has been operating in Peru since 2015, enabling the UK to deliver programmes and projects that support governments and civil society in addressing the drivers of organised and environmental crime. In April 2025, a new programme cycle will begin which could cause changes within the programme and the ISF Portfolio for the selected jobholder.
Roles and responsibilities:

Language: English and Spanish
Level of language required: English C1 / Spanish C1 or Native
Desirable: Fluency or Intermediate Portuguese.

Employees who are not liable to pay local income tax on their Mission salary, e.g. some non-local national staff and some spouses or partners of UK diplomatic staff, will have their salaries abated by an equivalent amount.
Appointable candidates who were unsuccessful may be placed on a ‘reserve list. If during the reserve period of 6 months the same or largely similar role becomes available, that role may be offered to the second or subsequent candidate.
Learning and development opportunities:
The British Embassy is strongly committed to learning and development (L&D), with a ring-fenced budget for these purposes and all staff are encouraged to set aside time for L&D. The jobholder will receive training according to the role, have full access to the UK Diplomatic Academy and online training resources and will be encouraged to take full advantage of both formal and informal learning events as and when available and relevant.
The FCDO also has mandatory training that all staff members need to complete.

Standard working hours from Monday to Friday. Applicants should be aware that the role might require occasional evening work. The Embassy has core hours during which staff are expected to work from the office, but it is normally possible to accommodate up to two days remote working in coordination with the line manager.
The FCDO operates an agile workforce. To facilitate this, you may be required to undertake other duties from time to time as we may reasonably require.
