Main purpose of job: The jobholder will be responsible for managing and maintaining the British Embassy Seoul’s IT systems, including the standalone IT infrastructure, VOIP telephones, and other communication technologies, in compliance with FCDO standards. This role ensures the optimal performance, security, and reliability of all IT and communication systems to support the Embassy’s operational needs and mission objectives. Key responsibilities include ensuring compliance with relevant policies and best practices, maintaining business resilience and continuity, performing regular maintenance and repairs, and enhancing staff IT skills to maximise the effective use of technology for improved business outcomes. As the primary contact for IT projects in Seoul, the jobholder will lead IT-related decision-making, including budget management and resource allocation, while line-managing the Deputy IT support officer to deliver high-quality IT support to all staff.

Learning & development opportunities:
The British Embassy Seoul encourages all staff to develop their capabilities, through both formal training (courses) and informal (job-shadowing, coaching, on-the-job training etc). The majority of our formal L&D opportunities are drawn from FCDO resources. All staff are encouraged to share their skills and experience with colleagues, through informal training (‘lunch & learn’) or coaching/mentoring.
Working Patterns:
Normal working hours are Monday to Friday, 09:00 – 17:15 (17:00 on Fridays). However, occasional evening and weekend working may be required, for which time off in lieu is given. The British Embassy encourages flexible working and various flexible working arrangements are possible with line manager agreement, including working from home.
Other Information:
Employment offers are subject to successful clearance of pre-employment checks. Staff recruited locally by the British Embassy Seoul are subject to Terms and Conditions of Service according to local Korean employment law.
No accommodation or relocation expenses are payable in connection with this position. All candidates must be legally able to work and reside in the country of the vacancy with the correct visa/work permit status or demonstrate eligibility to obtain the relevant permit. Any costs related to obtaining or renewing permits and visas are the responsibility of the successful applicant.
Employees who are not liable to pay local income tax on their Mission salary may have their salaries reduced by the equivalent local income tax amount.
