Main purpose of job:
This is an exciting role at the heart of the Governor’s Office. The job holder will be leading on the Office’s social media messaging, organising a range of events showcasing the different aspects of our work and overseeing our prestigious Chevening scholarship scheme. The role also offers the opportunity to support on key development programmes for Montserrat.
Roles and responsibilities:
This is a varied role, working over a number of key areas for the Governor’s Office including:
Digital and Social Media
- Managing the Governor’s Office social media accounts, including X and Facebook, working with colleagues to plan and draft content, obtain approvals and to then publish material.
- Creating and managing a detailed forward look, identifying opportunities to publish material, such as on key international days and working with regional and UK-based Comms team to issue central messages as appropriate.
Chevening Programme management
- Promoting the Chevening scholarship programme, providing support to the application process, including reviewing applications, preparation for interviews and updating the Chevening system.
- Updating and establishing an effective Chevening alumni network, handling the organisation of Chevening related events and overseeing the implementation of alumni-lead projects.
- Responding to enquiries regarding the scheme and acting as point of contact with the Embassy communication team on Chevening-related outreach activities.
- Maintaining positive relationships with applicants and award recipients before, during and after their award.
Events/Visits
- Managing key events for the Governor’s Office, including planning, budgeting, logistics, liaising with suppliers.
- Offering logistical support with incoming official visits.
Programme Support
- Working with the Programme Team with administrative duties as tasked during key points in the year, including ensuring project documents are up to date, supporting with site visits and financial monitoring, following up with relevant stakeholders, scheduling meetings, and maintaining project documents and reports.

- Legal status to live and work in Montserrat in your own right, from time of application.

The FCDO is a supportive and inclusive organisation that offers significant learning and development opportunities.
Some mandatory courses will be required to enable access to systems and to understand the FCDO.
The job holder will gain access to the FCDO’s International Academy, through which they will be able to undertake a range of learning to develop knowledge and professional skills, including communications, programme management and project delivery, etc.
Employees who are not liable to pay local income tax on their Mission salary, e.g. some non-local national staff and some spouses or partners of UK diplomatic staff, will have their salaries abated by an equivalent amount.
If during the reserve period of 12 months, the same of a largely similar role becomes available, that role may be offered to the second of subsequent candidate.

This is a full-time position of 5 working days, 40 hours per week in the office (inclusive of one hour lunch break). The jobholder must attend key recurring office meetings and on occasion work unsocial hours in an emergency or crisis or as directed by senior management. Overtime or time off in lieu will be provided (TOIL).
