Location/Division Specific Information: Position is located ONSITE at our Lenexa, Kansas.

Microbiology Division 

The Virtual Account Manager plays a vital role in driving sales within our Food/Pharma/Biotech portfolios in Microbiology with a focus on Pharma Customers. As a Virtual Account Manager, you will be responsible for applying various communication channels, including telephone, email, Internet, and other technology, to engage customers within a defined territory and business vertical.

In this role, you will actively collaborate with the Sales Managers and peers to provide support and contribute to the development of key growth accounts. Your expertise and efforts will be important in expanding our customer base, cultivating existing relationships, and driving revenue generation. 

By enhancing your exceptional interpersonal skills and using tried and true as well as modern sales technologies, you will implement professional sales calls, engage in email correspondence, and leverage online platforms to effectively promote and sell our Food/Pharma/Biotech portfolio. Through these interactions, you will develop an in-depth understanding of customer needs and showcase the value and benefits of our offerings, ultimately driving customer loyalty and allegiance. 

Additionally, you will actively identify and develop new leads, championing them through the sales pipeline and converting them into valued customers. By closely tracking your activities and using Salesforce.com, you will efficiently manage customer information, identify sales opportunities, and maintain accurate records. 

Furthermore, staying up-to-date with product knowledge, services, results driven activities, and industry trends will be essential for your success in this role. This knowledge will enable you to provide informed recommendations and insights to customers, ensuring that they receive the best possible solutions tailored to their needs. 

Overall, as a Virtual Account Manager, you will be driving sales growth, fostering customer loyalty, and expanding the Thermo Fisher impact on the markets we serve. 

What will you do: 

  • Implement professional sales calls via telephone to increase profitable sales growth for the Food/Pharma/Biotech market.
  • Establish and develop customer relationships to cultivate customer loyalty and allegiance.
  • Develop an action plan to achieve sales goals and objectives with a strong results orientation.
  • Effectively track activities, collecting customer information and developing opportunities in Salesforce.com
  • Maintain knowledge of products, services, and other general information of interest to customers and of strategic importance to the business.
  • Participate in training and development programs as a means of continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with internal and external team members to develop account specific strategies.
  • Implement professional sales calls via telephone and Microsoft Teams to increase profitable sales growth in the Food/Pharma/Biotech market.
  • Establish and develop customer relationships to cultivate customer loyalty and allegiance, making them repeat, long term users of Thermo Fisher technology.
  • Develop an action plan to achieve sales goals and objectives
  • Identify and qualify new leads, championing them through the sales pipeline to convert them into customers.
  • Collaborate with the Sales Manager to provide support and develop strategies for key growth accounts.
  • Conduct product virtual demonstrations and presentations to educate customers on the features and benefits of our offerings.
  • Negotiate pricing and contractual terms with customers to drive sales and enhance profitability.
  • Learn of and communicate market trends and competitor activities to identify potential business opportunities and adjust sales strategies accordingly.
  • Prepare and deliver sales reports and forecasts to management, providing insights into sales performance and business trends.

Requirements 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Communication or Business preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with strong Excel skills.
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills.
  • Highly motivated and competitive attitude.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of successful sales experience preferred.
  • Strong commitment to delivering excellent customer service.
  • Exceptional organizational skills to ability to complete multiple tasks and meet ambitious target completion dates.
  • Willingness to travel for training and sales meetings as required.
  • Demonstrated values of integrity, intensity, innovation, and involvement.
