Description
The Sociology Department at Hobart and William Smith Colleges invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor to begin August 1, 2024. This is a full-time, one-year position with a teaching load of five courses over two semesters. Teaching responsibilities include up to 2 sections of Introduction to Sociology and electives in the candidate’s area of expertise.
The salary range for this position is $46,036-$52,915.
Qualifications
We welcome candidates from all Sociology backgrounds with a commitment to student-centered practices and an equitable and inclusive classroom. While the area of expertise is open, candidates specializing in health/medical sociology, social psychology, environmental sociology, population/demography, social change, or digital sociologies are especially encouraged to apply. The successful applicant must demonstrate skill in developing and delivering course content that encourages critical thinking, active learning, and a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Candidates with a Ph.D. by August 2024 are preferred but ABD will be considered. Successful candidates will have a record of effective undergraduate teaching and those who have taught Introduction to Sociology are preferred.
