Position Duties

THE DEPARTMENT OF PSYCHOLOGY AT LOYOLA UNIVERSITY MARYLAND invites applications for a one-year, full-time, non-tenure track visiting assistant teaching professor for academic year 25-26, with the possibility of a January 2025 (Spring semester) start. Length of employment is flexible and contract is renawable pending department needs. While the area of expertise is open, our priority need is research methods courses and other courses in the person’s area of expertise. The person hired for this position will be expected to teach 4 courses per academic semester with the opportunity to teach in the summer if desired. The successful candidate must also be able to hold dedicated office hours and participate in limited additional department service. Required Qualifications: (1) an earned masters or doctorate (Ph.D. or Psy.D.) in Psychology or other social science discipline, with subject matter expertise open; (2) the ability to teach courses in research methods (study designs; descriptive and inferential statistics); (3) prior teaching experience and evidence of teaching effectiveness; (4) the ability to create a sense of inclusion and belonging in the classroom, and to infuse multicultural content into course material as appropriate; (5) strong commitment to excellence in teaching, including an appreciation of or engagement in high-impact teaching practices; (6) ability to contribute to the Jesuit educational mission of the department and university.

Application review will begin on in October and will continue until the position is filled. After initial review, successful candidates will be required to submit 1) two letters of reference that comment on teaching ability and 2) copies of official undergraduate and graduate transcripts.
