Job Summary
CAMC is seeking a progressive, collaborative and experienced physician executive to serve as its next Chief Medical Officer. Reporting to the President and CEO of CAMC, and as a key leader of the executive team, the CMO will serve as the strategic leader of the medical staff. He/She will focus on the clinical strategy of the organization, champion quality, align providers to reduce variation in care, drive physician engagement, foster clinical effectiveness and implement a culture of excellence in the delivery of clinical services. The CMO will lead care transformation efforts and drive performance improvement and related initiatives across the organization.
The successful CMO will:
1.Be a change agent and engagement leader of the medical staff who can thrive in a dynamic environment, collaborate effectively with the executive team and look at problems and solutions from both a clinical and business perspective.
2.Work collaboratively with the Chief Academic Officer (CAO) and Senior Vice Presidents (SVPs) to manage the employed physicians and work to develop an annual recruitment plan and foster its success.
3.Be the visible leader of the medical staff, working collaboratively with the Chief of Staff, to foster a collaborative and engaged working relationship with the medical staff.
4.Lead and develop the clinical/physician activities of CAMC, including credentialing and appointments, as well as strategies to achieve engagement of operational effectiveness and execution of strategic plans.
5.Work collaboratively with the Institute for Academic Medicine’s (IAM) CAO and SVPs to develop strategic opportunities for growth of services and new educational experiences.
6.Foster communication processes with the Medical Staff and Administration working in conjunction with Medical Staff Departments, IAM, Information Services, Nursing, Marketing, and Medical Affairs.
7.Collaborate with the Chief Quality Officer, Medical Staff and Nursing, to further develop and improve the quality of care provided to patients at CAMC and southern region hospitals.
8.Work with leaders to improve the operational process supporting the quality and safety of care provided to all patients.
9.Help improve and build new relationships with physicians and APPs in the hospital and the region along with advance trust and credibility across a diverse group of stakeholders and leaders.
10.Champion a data driven environment and lead the ongoing transformation of care delivery across the system to design care in such a way to decrease unnecessary cost, eliminate waste, improve patient outcomes and enhance patient, provider and workforce satisfaction.
11.Lead efforts with the medical staff to design and implement programs for clinical quality that meets Evidence Based Care guidelines for CAMC.
12.Serve as the liaison for clinical activities to all physicians by leading physician satisfaction, voice physician needs and providing a vehicle for effective communication to CAMC’s Medical Staff.
Education
- Doctorate Degree (Required) Education: Education: Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) Experience: At least 3 months Must be Physician Member of the active Medical Staff.
