Associate Publisher / Publishing Manager (Non-Editorial Role)

And Other Stories is seeking an experienced, numerate, tech-savvy and organised person, who is good with people, to join our team as Associate Publisher / Publishing Manager. In this newly created role, the candidate will manage the press’s day-to-day operations and help to drive the organisation’s success through good work in sales, financial management, operations and also aiding in governance and relations with our funding partners.

Reporting to the publisher and working closely with all members of the team, this role is ideal for someone with a strong publishing background in operations, sales or finance who is ready to take on broader responsibilities across all areas of an independent publishing house. (There will also be the opportunity in future for the candidate to explore the hiring of support by way of an entry-level administrative assistant or a university collaboration for paid long-term student placements.)

The position offers a good measure of autonomy and the opportunity to help shape the way the company operates as we head towards fifteen years of publishing in September of this year. This is not an editorial or commissioning role but the successful candidate will be a reader of the press’s books who ‘gets’ the list and ethos and – as is the case for all the team members – may participate actively in our acquisitions and advisory board meetings
