Job Description

West Horsley Place is looking for an ambitious and commercially minded Commercial Income Lead to shape, grow and diversify income across our historic house and estate. This is a senior, hands-on role for an entrepreneurial self-starter who can spot opportunity, build strong client relationships and turn ideas into successful, income-generating activity.

Reporting to the Deputy Director, you will lead the development of our commercial income strategy while also driving delivery on the ground. You will oversee a varied portfolio including corporate venue hire, filming and photography, third-party commercial activity and estate partnerships, helping to maximise potential in ways that support our charitable purpose and long-term sustainability.

This is a role for someone who enjoys both strategy and action. You will identify and launch new revenue streams, strengthen pricing and positioning, and build partnerships that enhance our offer and increase income. You will personally lead sales for corporate hire, filming and other commercial use including estate based partnerships, acting as a confident ambassador in negotiations and client relationships.

You will also take the commercial lead on planning and delivering non-wedding hires and events, ensuring an excellent client experience and high operational standards. Alongside this, you will provide strategic oversight of weddings and private events, line-managing the Weddings & Private Events Coordinator and supporting cross-team collaboration where appropriate.

We are looking for someone with proven experience in commercial sales, business development or income generation, ideally within venue hire, events, hospitality or a visitor attraction. You will be commercially astute, highly organised, confident managing people and relationships, and calm under pressure in a busy events environment.

This is a 0.8 part-time, 12 month fixed-term role with opportunity to extend and with flexibility around contract structure.

Job Requirements

We are looking for a commercially minded, proactive and highly organised professional with proven experience in commercial sales, business development or income generation, ideally gained in venue hire, events, hospitality or visitor-attraction settings.

The successful candidate will bring strong commercial judgement, a track record of meeting income targets, and confidence in identifying new opportunities and building partnerships.

They will have excellent relationship-building, negotiation and client-handling skills, with the ability to work positively with colleagues, volunteers, trustees, tenants, contractors and external clients. Line management experience would be welcome. A calm, flexible and solutions-focused approach in a busy events environment is an essential as is a willingness to work evenings and weekends as required.

Experience in a charity, small organisation or estate-based commercial model would be an advantage.
