Fellowship Associate
Contract: Freelance, Part-Time (12 hours per week)
Salary: £45,000 per annum pro rata (£13,500 per annum, paid quarterly)
Reporting to: Executive Director
Working closely with: Executive Director, PLF Fellows, Trustees, Finance Team and service providers
Probation Period: 3 months
This role is designed for someone who understands how artistic careers are shaped – whether through experience as a performer or through working within arts organisations.
As Fellowship Associate, you will contribute to the development and overseeing of a small number of highly tailored Fellowships, each created in close collaboration with partner institutions and designed to support exceptional artists at pivotal moments in their careers.
Alongside this, you will support the Foundation’s wider work, including the annual PLF Gathering – which brings together Fellows, partners and collaborators – and the development of Signature Fund projects, which allow the Foundation to further support PLF Fellows with their Artistic Careers.
You will work across a network of artists and partners, helping to ensure that each Fellowship and project is thoughtful, well-structured, and genuinely impactful.
The work is precise and relational. It requires judgement, discretion, and an understanding of both artistic ambition and organisational context.
Some travel to Amsterdam and Weimar required.
This role is designed to sit alongside an ongoing portfolio career.
The successful candidate will:
Have strong organisational and communication skills, with the ability to manage information clearly across a range of stakeholders
Be personable and emotionally intelligent, able to build and sustain positive working relationships at all levels
Be confident working independently, able to take initiative and exercise sound judgement without close supervision
Be comfortable operating with discretion, reliability, and sensitivity to context
Have good working knowledge of IT systems or the confidence to quickly adapt to new tools
Be able to create and maintain practical, efficient systems that support a small organisation
Have an awareness of the wider context in which artists and arts organisations operate, balancing artistic and organisational priorities
Have experience within the performing arts sector (either in practice or administration), with an understanding of the UK and European landscape.
