Job Summary

Seeds Creative Development is seeking an experienced Movement Director to collaborate on a new ensemble theatre production exploring themes of identity, belonging, resilience and personal transformation. We are looking for an artist who can create a distinctive movement language.

Job Description

Seeds Creative Development is developing a new devised theatre production that combines spoken word, physical theatre and ensemble performance. We are seeking a Movement Director to work alongside the Director and performers to shape the physical vocabulary of the piece.

The production explores how individuals navigate change, adversity and self-discovery, drawing on personal stories, movement and theatrical imagery. The Movement Director will play a key role in helping performers embody themes and characters through movement, creating transitions between scenes, and developing ensemble sequences that support the narrative.

The successful candidate will lead movement-based devising sessions, contribute to the creative development of the work, and support performers with varying levels of movement experience. We are particularly interested in artists with experience in physical theatre, contemporary dance, community arts or interdisciplinary performance.

This role would suit someone who enjoys collaborative creation processes and can balance artistic ambition with accessibility for performers from diverse backgrounds.

Job Requirements

Proven experience as a Movement Director, Choreographer or Physical Theatre Practitioner
Experience creating work for theatre, dance or interdisciplinary performance
Strong facilitation and communication skills
Ability to devise movement collaboratively with performers
Understanding of ensemble-based and devising theatre practices
Commitment to inclusive and accessible creative processes
Ability to work independently and contribute creatively within a small team
