Lecturer – Anesthesia – Small Animal Clinical Sciences

This position involves a 75% commitment to providing clinical anesthesia services within the small and large animal clinics of the Veterinary Medical Centre (VMC). The anesthesia service is also responsible for the training of undergraduate veterinary students, graduate veterinarians, registered veterinary technologists, and veterinary technology students. The successful applicant must be passionate about veterinary medicine, a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Anesthesia and Analgesia (ACVAA), and committed to coaching students for success in clinical practice. Participation in after hours emergency duties is required, including the supervision of graduate students during this component of their training. The remaining 25% of the appointment will be devoted to developing/delivering lectures and laboratories within undergraduate and graduate veterinary programs, as well as the delivery and assessment of Clinical Skills anesthesia content in the undergraduate curriculum. The successful candidate will also contribute lectures within the graduate training program and provide continuing education to graduate veterinarians within the discipline.
The WCVM is Western Canada’s regional college of veterinary medicine and is part of a comprehensive academic health sciences group on the University of Saskatchewan’s main campus. The VMC is a state-of-the-art, AVMA- and AAHA-accredited, primary care hospital and referral centre serving Western Canada. The centre provides specialty services and supports undergraduate and graduate veterinary student training.
Applicants must hold a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree (or equivalent), have completed an advanced degree in a related field, be Diplomates of the ACVAA, and be eligible for licensure to practice veterinary medicine in Saskatchewan.
This position is within the scope of the University of Saskatchewan Faculty Association. The salary band for the 2026-2027 academic year is $95,187 to $139,203, negotiable based on qualifications and experience.
