Job Summary
Job Description
Voice is an online magazine for young people, which also runs training and community projects to develop skills and experience within the arts, culture, and creative media. We are especially committed to reaching those from less advantaged backgrounds and opening routes into vocational training and jobs in the creative sector. We also run Youth Voice training for organisations wishing to develop young people’s participation.
Voice is funded through a mix of regular and project grants, individual donors and earned income from training and commissioned services.
The Finance Officer will work alongside the core team, who all work remotely, and report to the Company Manager. This is an opportunity to work with a small charity, leading on finance and managing the company budget and multiple project budgets from various funding sources.
Upstart Projects, the charity behind Voice, is committed to Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion and we are an equal opportunities employer. Our policy is to recruit a diverse workforce and follow the guidelines of the Equality Act. We celebrate diversity and aim to build inclusive, supportive teams. We welcome applications from global majority communities and those dealing with disabilities. Please contact us if you need assistance to apply for this role. As a Midlands-based charity we are particularly seeking applicants living in the Midlands.
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include maintaining accurate financial records, processing invoices and transactions (usually under 50 transactions per month across payments and receipts), tracking project and commission budgets, producing quarterly reports, leading on year-end financial reporting in liaison with the charity’s accountants, and supporting general financial management.
You will need to understand how a charity operates and take ownership of well-maintained financial records with different sources of grant and earned income and expenditure across multiple projects.
